The Huston's Junior Anglers Camp is a project created to teach boys and girls the education and fundamentals of fishing. This program will educate the community children the different spices of fish, water safety, protecting the environment and social responsibility. We also would like to establish this program in different states as well once we have nailed down our best practices and program specifics. Please partner with us to educate the joys of what the environment has to offer.
The UNITY Project
Recognizing the need youth have for positive influences in their lives, The Guide of Destiny Foundation is dedicated to providing an environment for youth to thrive academically, socially, and economically. The Guide of Destiny Foundation, along with the support of: Harris County schools, local churches and other community based organizations, has strategically partnered to create a network of opportunity for youth in Greater Houston. The Guide of Destiny Foundation seeks to raise awareness about the importance of Youth Development and education for a high-need diverse group of students and their parents in Greater Houston. The U.N.I.T.Y. program will afford The Guide of Destiny Foundation an opportunity to increase the number of youth that receive support and services they need to thrive as they transition from youth to young adult. We plan to achieve this by: 1) Providing opportunities for Strength Based Social and Community Engagement; 2) Offering students additional Student Engagement services (i.e. mentoring).
Confidence and Self-Esteem Workshops
The group format allows young ladies to learn how to forgive and give back. We teach them the information to develop new understandings about the feelings and perceptions of each other as well as other members outside of themselves. We do this by practicing open communication and creating common language to share ideas in a safe environment, all girls will develop new tools to navigate the social and emotional side from preteens to adulthood. This project focuses on the struggles and situations of growing up. Here we offer mentoring and Education on Hygiene/Sex Education, Peer Pressure, Menstruation Education, Teen Pregnancy Self Esteem and Self Confidence and Life Skills.
Boy's To Men
The Guide Of Destiny Foundation’s Boy's 2 Men mentoring program is building a brighter future for youth boys in Greater Houston to help young men grow into productive engaged and responsible adults, The Guide of Destiny Foundation follows a six step evidenced-based mentorship process. These steps are:
1) Recruitment; 2) Screening; 3) Training; 4) Matching; 5) Monitoring and Support; and, 6) Closure and Recognition.
